Stunning colours, really surprised how clearly the bands in the rocks are rendered, love the clouds too.

This is a well known tripod hole of mine - little different with the 645z due to the 4:3 shape of the sensor and 28mm being as short as it goes - but still managed to fit it all in

1.

2.

3.

Yes, but rather than walk up the Devils Staircase. Walk down to the river - you can see this spot from the layby and IMHO is far more worthy a spot of camera time than walking up that (I've done both).

I know where you mean. You can pick up the path to the cottage from there.

For this shot - you need a still evening and something 28mm or wider. I wouldn't want to do this with the 32-64. The 28-45 is fine, the 23mm would be the one though on your system.

I haven't got one - and I would consider one but not without the ability to take a front mounted Lee filter system. The dynamic range of the 645z is good, but not 30 stop good.

28mm on the 645z actually does it but when I shot 35mm format Nikon I found the 20mm F1.8 did the spot the best. It's the only Nikon wide lens that doesn't have smeary sides. Even the fabled 14-24 is a cheap piece of rubbish with soft sides. I hate soft sides. I expect completely uniform sharpness everywhere on the frame - every part of the composition and picture is chosen to be there so it matters, greatly. The 28-45 is the only wide zoom I've ever had that I could trust in this regard.

Because of the shape of the sensor - I don't think 25mm would actually do it as the 35mm sensor is 3:2 and not 4:3.

It is just a nicer shape of picture - and tbh that was a big motivation to ditch 35mm and move the 645z - the 4:3 shape sensor works better for my tastes now.

I redid this image not long ago and tastes evolve - cropping it 4:3 worked for me. I only wish I had this camera sooner - it really has been by far the best camera system I've ever owned. Combined with DXO PL4 it is unstoppable.

Three takes on the same shot. Very gloomy late afternoon at Rydal Water. A few light rain showers came through, taking away any contrast.

GFX100s GF32 - 64

Full colour

Converted in Silver Efex

And then I reduced the opacity of the Silver Efex to 60%

There's bags of contrast here and the first stands out for being very naturally processed.

Advice though - Silver FX can be very destructive and I'd suggest just creating B&Ws without it.

With the last - a simple slide of the saturation slider the other way would have got you there in a spit second. De saturated images can be fun.

dig it.....i do not have the vocabulary for it but i do not think ya'd get the contrast / emboss like "volume" otherwise which is a subtle but neat effect

kinda tried similar like stuff with some portraits to try to make them more "full bodied" .....wouldn't say they were success but certainly unique results
