Originally posted by mattb123 A stitch from Sunday morning's outing which was really nice. I had a old friend and work colleague in town with his daughter who is into landscape photography.
I invited her to join me and I think the scenery and conditions just about blew her mind. Fun to share with someone who appreciates it so much. She got some fine photos too.
I wasn't expecting the fresh snow but it was a welcome surprise!

The way the super fit mountain sport fanatics become that way is they keep on doing it!
Or at least it can get you into reasonably fit mountain sport fanatic range like me.
You are right and I keep chugging away at it, but keep my exertion level to a point where I can still enjoy the experience. The reward once you get to the top is always worth it, albeit difficult to capture in an image. The odd thing is that the spectacular view is often the mountain you are standing on.
I used to do a lot of deep diving and the reward feeling is similar to reaching a mountain top. Once I reached the bottom I always looked up and in relatively clear water you can sometimes see a landscape of the sea floor and sloping drop-offs towards the surface.
Most of the times there were murky layers that obscured the view to the surface and on those dives the view was limited to a "magnificent" vista of mud sediment and occasional deep corals, hosting the odd inquisitive fish wondering what the heck you are doing there.
When I got my 645z in 2015, I enquired about an underwater housing for it and approached a local HK manufacturer of housings. They said they could make it and had in fact made one for a Phase One for some guy. The price tag was to be based on actual costs with a target of between USD 30k to $40k. I changed the subject and decided to stay with my outdated video camera and GoPro.
Not to bore everybody, but here are a couple of frame-grabs from "down-under" in Tanzania.
#1 - Black coral and a vase coral at 450ft.
#2 - A lone black coral at +/- 400ft looking up at the ridge above at 260ft.
#3 - From the ledge at 260ft looking back to where I came from.
#4 - A huge hammerhead shark, I guess at least 14ft, cruising by, but steering well clear of me, picture also looking from the ledge at 260ft.
Hope I am forgiven for being a little off topic.
