A few days ago I was coming back from our morning house hike and had a beautiful moment where the clouds seemed to retreat and the sun highlighting patches on the mountain. I added a bit extra saturation to portray the real-life experience and what it looked like to me. Or rather what I would have liked it to look like. The harshness of the mountain really stands out with the contrast created by the low angle of the sunlight.

While I was taking the picture I was thinking that this mountain is also representing the timelessness of its presence, compared with the temporary presence of the people living in its shadow.

645z + FA200 @ 1/1000s f/5.6 ISO400 - Single image cropped into panorama - handheld

Edit: Replaced picture with revised edit.

I wanted to mention that the mountain top is about 12km away and I was impressed with the ability of the FA 200mm lens. It is probably not the sharpest of the range of lenses available for the 645 but it certainly is a capable lens, and a dream to carry around because it is so light and small.

Finland

From our trip to Finland in 2016. This day was the coldest I have ever been in my life. It was -33 C (-27 F) and our feet got cold in our boots from sitting in a minivan for an hour before we arrived. The locals were very helpful and to warm up we had to take our boots off because they told us once the inside of the boot is cold, you can't heat it up with body heat alone.

The dogsleds were a sight to see and I got new appreciation for how tough these dogs are. They slept in the snow/ice just curled up. Here they were impatient in waiting for the tourists to get onto the sleds.

Beautiful place and need to go back one day.

Edit: I add two more pictures:

#3 Standing on the frozen river Anarjohke, the border between Finland and Norway, looking at the sun as it crests at noon, just beyond the horizon.
#4 On the way to the dog sleds taking a picture of sunrise, or rather first light.

I've got some shots of the Bristlecones in the White's that I need to figure out how to process "correctly". Maybe this winter....
