I was pretty thrilled to get another good sunrise today. I drove north to the park in the rain, but the precipitation passed and said rain clouds got some beautiful colour as they moved to the east while the sun rose.

All these shots are at Kings Park again, in Perth. They are in chronological order. All with Leaf Credo 60. All except the pano were taken using Pentax 28-45mm, the pano was taken using the Mamiya 55mm and is three shots stitched together. None are a single exposure; all the P28-45 shots are two exposures blended for dynamic range.
gorgeous captures!

Beautifully envisaged and executed. Your creative and technical prowess with the 600mm drainpipe are second to none!

Here's a shot taken at Belvoir Castle during my recent visit to the UK. It's the seat of the Duke of Rutland in the rolling countryside outside Grantham (where I grew up).

Thanks, Mike. I took a long sequence of shots, with differing amounts of sun as it dropped, from fully over the castle, through just a pin-prick of light, to fully behind the castle. And widely bracketed in each position.

This one seemed best. Enough sun to look interesting, but little enough to a) suggest it's just disappearing and b) to avoid drastic flare.

I saw this castle so many times when growing up but have only photographed it as an adult living thousands of miles away. Funny how that happens!

Had it been Windsor Castle, you might have stopped to say "Hello" to her Majesty the Queen ... lol ! (JK)

Ah, not me! Mind you, living as I do in Australia, she can claim a mandate here. There was a referendum on becoming a Republic years ago, and that was rejected. The UK has never had any such mandate-giving process... So paradoxically she has a stronger claim to being the Queen of Australia than the Queen of Britain.

Maybe the pic I posted of the Houses of Parliament recently is a better expression of where my heart is on these matters :-)

Re-edit and re-post of an almost close-up of a canola plant (rapeseed). I wanted to show more of the insect(s) servicing this plant.

Prince Charles and Camilla are touring Canada right now. They ran a poll and Queen Elizabeth has a 70 % approval rate here while Charles (who should become King pretty soon) is only acclaimed by 30 % of the population. Royalty is becoming something of a folkloric thing in the "Colonies", I guess.

Best Regards

My brother visited London and southeastern U.K. in 2019 with his wife (who is of Irish descent). One of his "famous quips" : "They eat just like us !". He particularly appreciated bacon & eggs in the morning, rather than croissants and jam with coffee in Paris ... lol !

Best Regards
