A couple from this morning's sunrise - very brief at only a couple of minutes before it quickly faded, but beautiful. No decent reflections on the river so I took the easy option and went to the park again. I feel rather apologetic around the repetition; I'm becoming a little bit of a one-note shooter lately, and the Park's ground-keepers are also becoming rather familiar to me showing up in the mornings!

Pentax 28-45mm and Leaf Credo 60, the first at 45mm and the second at around 28. Both shots are blended from two individual bracketed shots.

Dating back to the 7th Century, Whitby Abbey stands in remarkable and gothic isolation on the hills over the North Yorkshire town. It was confiscated by the Crown during Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th Century, leading to its ruination. I will be posting more shots of it in the coming weeks, but for now, here's a star trail.

Famously the Abbey features in Bram Stoker's Dracula - a connection much exploited by local tourism!

Thanks so much, Theuns. I was very lucky to have the opportunity during my brief stay in England.

The hardest thing about the shot was that it was a night of sea haar (the abbey is on cliffs just off the North Sea). It kept rolling in off the sea in blanketing waves. I grabbed a window of opportunity, though some still whisked through and had to be edited out. I didn't realise how much my sense of urgency mattered. Within moments of getting just enough files, the fog came in fully and never went away. It was a narrow chance and, without appreciating the challenge, I happened to jag it!

I've checked if there are some ruins nearby so that I could eventually copy your idea and achieve some sort of image you got here. There are some ruins in Austria, although not as nice as what you have here. Do you mind if I copy your idea?

Of course, my friend! Very nice of you to ask but you certainly don't need my permission. We all inspire each other all the time :-). Nonetheless, it's incredibly decent of you to ask! I look forward to seeing the results...

On the stretch of coastline where Cook (later to be Captain Cook) first landed in Australia, 'claiming' the land for Britain, there stands a sculpture of a whale and her calf... I felt that the stars suggest the endless ocean that's home to these wonderful animals and the endless history of this land that changed so much following that fateful day in 1770.

Sorry if you've answered this before, but which adapter are you using to be able to control the aperture on the P645 28-45mm lens (which does not feature an aperture ring)?
Thanks!
