I have the A 55/2.8 but of course I've only ever used it on film, so it'll be nice to see how it performs on digital. The colours on that wall art are amazing - I think you might have found your perfect CCD sensor...

thank you...

I'm loving this camera.....

Stories and explanations abound of how the spire came to be so distorted, from the prosaically engineering-based to the mythically fabled. But whatever the cause, it's very striking indeed. The spire was added to the church in circa 1362 and is both twisted and leaning: the 45-degree twist causes the tip to lean 9 ft 6 in (2.9 m) off-centre.

And this version has had a sky digitally added (just a bit of fun!); the astronomers amongst you will spot that it's a Southern Hemisphere sky added to a Northern Hemisphere scene!

Hi,

Ah! That's how the spire got twisted! The sky spun around and changed hemispheres and twisted up that spire in the process! ;p

Looks good, though.

Your A 200 mm f/4 seems to perform much better than the one I had. It produced only "dismal" results on my 645N, so much so I decided to get rid of it. I bought an FA 200 mm f/4 replacement (6 elements in 5 groups), one of the best 645 lenses ever made (plus it is AF). It really shines on a digital sensor.

Best Regards

I would also love to have a 645Z...lenses I have enough from my 67 II, but unfortunately a 645 is not yet within my budget

Great spire feature considering it was not intended to be crooked and that it stood all this time despite poor maintenance and fires.

Vivid is a massive cultural festival of events and lights held in Sydney. It's grown in scale and popularity since its early days, though Covid led to two years without it. Now it's back with a vengeance!

Last week, I managed to secure access to the southeast pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, a place that's usually out of bounds after sunset. It yielded a few interesting images...

And finally a shot taken after my pylon sojourn, from under the bridge. Pentax 645 25mm DA lens...

Spectacular shots to say the least. Glad to see the P67 55-100mm still delivers its charming look. Thank you for sharing these amazing views of Sydney.

My sister lives not far from Chesterfield and we've visited a few times, it's a nice town. I was told that the crookedness of the spire was down to poor engineering.

From Wikipedia about the origin of that crooked spire...

"The reason is uncertain and still debated: suggestions include lack of skilled workers because of the Black Death, which occurred as much of the church was being built; the use of insufficient cross bracing and 'green timber' – unseasoned timber; and also the 17th-century addition of 33 tons of lead sheeting covering the spire, resting on 14th-century bracing not designed to carry such weight. Another theory is sunlight heating the south side of the tower and causing the lead there to expand at a greater rate than the north side, resulting in an unequal expansion. Possibly the spire's twist is due to a combination of factors."
