Hi,

I have an excursion railroad near me where you can go run the engine.

Triangle's Train | New Hope Valley Railway

I looked at the updates on their site when grabbing the link. Operation is Sold Out for the rest of the year.

I've never gone to the place, much less shot anything.

There is another event not too far from me in NC coming up. The Old Threshers Reunion. I have been there often and shot many things. Not in MF though. Maybe this year....

https://dentonfarmpark.com/southeast-old-threshers-reunion/

Lots of Steam Power there, including a railroad that circles the farmpark. Also lots of those old kerosene engines that followed the steam ones. Plus a huge Fairbanks Morse diesel stationary engine which is my favorite.

Yes. I think I need to go with the P645D this year. I have many images from these shows over the years, all small format.

Making good use of the new lens, looks like. So, what are your thoughts about digital medium format now?

thank you...

absolutely love it....

the camera is heavier than anything else I own, but the grip plus the controls are just about perfectly placed for me so I notice it less....

the lenses are simply on another level as far as clarity and resolution, but I'm pretty sure that the big CCD sensor has something to with that also....

and the OVF is pure heaven...

The P645-A 120mm macro is absolutely one of the best macros available anywhere, and the A version is a great bargain. I actually prefer the A version for macro since the focus ring offers firmer resistance than the AF when used in MF mode for macro. I never use AF for macro anyway, though the A-120 is certainly a good lens for landscape and general use.

645Z + FA 120 mm f/4 MACRO. Autofocus hunts a lot, manual-focus is better adapted.

plus this particular copy was cheap-cheap because someone had engraved their name and driver's license number on it.... but the optics are perfect...

Exactly my experience with my Z. The only time I've gotten fatigued with it was holding it one handed while holding a cabled flash with the other hand (it's a certain bit of shooting I've done...), and even then it's only after some minutes of that.

Well, of course I have the Z with the CMOS...but I do think there is something going on with the lenses that test charts don't account for---and it's not fairy dust. I just think there are things that just haven't been tested for yet. And indeed, the OVF is an "eye opener". Makes a FF OVF seem puny.

I'm always amused when I read comments from people who declaim about there not being any significant difference between contemporary FF and digital medium format---almost invariably these are people who have not used digital medium format to any extent.

Following the shots I posted here a couple of weeks ago of Sydney's Vivid Festival, I decided to take one more shot, this time from a distance.

I've always stayed away from stacking teleconverters, or even using my 2x converter. My testing has shown me that anything more than a single 1.4x converter is inferior to simply using the 1.4x on its own and cropping.
BUT
Sometimes it's fun to try.
So I went crazy!
This is shot with GFX100S and Pentax 67 400mm EDIF lens with 67 1.4x converter AND 67 2x converter AND 645 1.4x converter stacked.
The loss of sharpness doesn't matter so much when it's foggy, so it seemed like a good moment to try it!

What you see on the hilltop is the Baháʼí temple in Ingleside (north of Sydney)
