Fascinating, albeit completely mysterious. Is that an undercut limestone hill?

when rainwater suddenly hit hot volcanic ash, the resulting steam was forced straight up, leaving behind evenly spaced vertical channels in the firm ash. Over millennia, the area was submerged and hard minerals filled those channels. At some point, the region became desert and was buried in sand.

Recently, the creation of a dammed reservoir has brought wave action to the feature, eroding away the soft ash to reveal the hardened mineral columns. As such, it is going to keep getting better over time.

Not something you'd normally do with a portrait lens but it works well for many things.

A few more -re-edits from our trip to Namibia in 2019, going for a more bleached look instead. Maybe I'm just in a bleached look phase, but having a lot of colour and contrast in pictures from a desert area just doesn't seem to make sense.

Comments and critique welcome.

A couple from a recent trip to New South Wales.

Somersby Falls. Both shot with Leaf Credo 60, and Pentax 28-45mm for the first and Samyang 24mm f3.5 for the second. Both are exposure blended, and the second is focus stacked as well.

Horse Head rock, at around sunrise ( not much colour to speak of, though ). Definitely hope to revisit this location sometime in the future.

Both taken with Credo 60 and 28-45mm. First is a blend ( and I noticed that I hadn't done a spot removal yet . . . ) and the second is a vertical pano ( if 3:2 is considered a panorama ) of two exposures.

One of Dangar Falls. Taken with Credo 60 and Mamiya 55mm f2.8. Vertical pano with a blended sky and focus stacked foreground.
