Hi,

Goodness! What a lot of work! It paid off nicely, though!

You're very kind guys! This was one of the easier ones - I sometimes composite 4000 frames to produce a single star trail image...

Vegas is so weird. The photo is awesome! That's a lot of data!

Got married recently. A week before the ceremony, my Mum flew out to Australia from home in the UK. I took her on a trip to the country's 'red centre'. On our way back to Sydney, we flew over some very interesting abstract landscapes.

Pretty good airplane windows, or is there some PP that helps? Because the windows are in the near field, glare from reflections can cause contrast reduction, and because the plastic layers are not flat to wavelength quality they can cause near-field distortion, degrading resolution. Maybe the latter is not observable if the f/no is fairly high and only a tiny piece of the plastic is in the path.

I frequently take photos from airplane windows. It's easier when using real manual focus rather than the fly by wire on mirrorless lenses. put the aperture at a large level - f/4 or f/5.6 and focus at infinity. You won't see the scratches on the wondow. Also try and avoid the bottom of the window where there is distortion.

That's exactly the technique I deploy - shoot nearly wide open to avoid getting window blemishes to show up due to DoF, focus manually and with care, stay away from the edges of the window. When pixel peeping, you can see degradation but it's not bad!

One side not from your comment, Paul: are you saying, with focus-by-wire on the lenses built for mirrorless, that precise focusing is difficult?

Early Sony fly by wire focussing was quite difficult. On the Fuji, it's much better. You just have to check it is still fissed in the same place if you leave it for a while or switch the camera off.

A useful illustration of how color vs. BW can bring forward different parts of an image. BW makes the naked trees starkly present against the sky. Color brings the get-a-way nook lights forward matching the leaves and brush, with the trees seemingly receding in attention getting. Thanks for the educational demo.
