I presume that your question is based on the assumption that the tripod legs were in water? Well, that's only partly true! The water there is tidal, and throughout the phase where I was shooting for the stars, the water was far enough out to be away from the tripod. I then took some shots for the wider scene and foreground, by which time a) there was some pre-dawn light and b) the tide had come in far enough to be around the tripod legs. So it was only those final shots where the water was a potential issue, and I was able to get away with it.
I was thinking you were on a higher quality wood dock than that in the image, but that it would still transmit wave slap to the tripod, and that wind turbulence could also cause tripod motion at the pixel size/lens efl resolution. Still water suggests no wind and no wave slap.
