Many thanks for the kind comment and question...

I presume that your question is based on the assumption that the tripod legs were in water? Well, that's only partly true! The water there is tidal, and throughout the phase where I was shooting for the stars, the water was far enough out to be away from the tripod. I then took some shots for the wider scene and foreground, by which time a) there was some pre-dawn light and b) the tide had come in far enough to be around the tripod legs. So it was only those final shots where the water was a potential issue, and I was able to get away with it.
I was thinking you were on a higher quality wood dock than that in the image, but that it would still transmit wave slap to the tripod, and that wind turbulence could also cause tripod motion at the pixel size/lens efl resolution. Still water suggests no wind and no wave slap.

Anyway, thanks for the endless great shots.

Thanks, Kas! I was standing on solid ground rather than a dock... The curvature of the shoreline here helped me out!

I'm incorporating new astro stacking software, Deep SkyStacker and StarnetGUI star remover; this is a composite I created while practicing with the tools. The foreground was captured in 2020 and the star set from last weekend.

Yesterday evening I decided to take a drive into the hills and check on this patch of flowers. I'd say it's looking pretty good!
I also wanted to try out my new GFX 1.4x TC. Having that and the 100-200 gets me to 280mm which I'm hoping is close enough to not have to carry my heavy 645 300mm as much. IQ seems plenty good for my needs, even a little better than that 300 which is pretty good but not great.

New neighbors! Saw this while walking out my front door. This is why I put up with slow internet. Pentax 645Z with SMC Pentax 645 FA 300 F5.6 ED [IF]. Handheld at 1/160 F5.6 ISO 3200. Cropped very slightly to remove bright sky streaming thru the leaves.
Thanks for looking,

Sydney's annual Vivid festival fills the city with colours, and I decided to combine that with star trails...

Wow, great image!
Did you have to fight much flare for this with the Laowa?
