Using the 645D...

What would you use the 645D for? Weddings, landscape work, macro, etc? Just to clarify things, I do have a 645N that I use whenever I get the film bug. I use it mainly for some landscapes (although I use the FA 645 45mm and not the 35mm), and macro work.

I know that the 645 was once very prevalent for wedding work, but how was it used for that? I typically use my K7 and my K20D for everything including the formal portrait session. I am unsure about using the 645D for the ceremony and the reception, but I could definitely see it being used for the formal posed shots, and maybe even the engagement session. Same situation for proms and other events. I do not do those "prom shots" with the background, props, studio lighting, and canned poses. I do the event type shots like table shots, candids, PJ type stuff. For those of you who have shot events and weddings with the 645, 645N, or 645NII, do you see working a 645D into your workflow now, and how would you use it?

If you can't afford it (like me, at least for another year or more), just assume that the camera fairy is going to give you one anyway. This is more of a "what if I could get one" scenario.

Personally, I would use it for anything and everything.....well, at least for anything that didn't require the movements of a view camera or sports/action type autofocus (which I don't do anyways).

I decided to keep the 645NII and several 645 manual focus lenses that I bought recently and I am looking forward to the day when I can add a 645D to the equation (though it might not be for a couple years).

landscape and studio work for me (though for studio work, it'd probably be overkill unless what folks have said about improved MF tonality is true :-)

I would use my for most of what I currently shoot for my personal work (family/portraits, nature/macro/wildlife). My work supplies my camera equipment presently, so no need to wear it out there.

Nope. No need for fast shutters when you have real studio strobes instead of dinky speedlights

The 75mm LS pops up every now and then in the used sections or on KEH. It's manual focus only though...

You could set the shutter speed on the camera to one-second and still get an effective shutter speed of the flash duration if you don't have competing ambient studio light levels.

if I were fortunate and crazy enough to get one of the first ones available, I'd use it to brag and to lord it over all you folks, for as long as I could

If I were to do weddings with the 645D, it would be to pay for it

Otherwise, landscape/street photography. Oddly, as a recent owner of the analogue 645, I've been considering studio work. Never contemplated that before, but do now. I do believe tonality will be better. And I do believe in the camera fairy. Oh there it is

I managed with the 645 and 645N's 1/60 X sync speed. When you have full control over lightning in a studio the sync speed is not a deal breaker.

There is a 75 and 135 mm LS lens which should work with the 645D. The LS is triggered by the aperture stop down lever.

I will be using the 645D to take photos to sell. The same purpose as the 645N.
