I see some advertised... some say late model others don't the Late model ones are more expensive, is there anything optically different between them?

Here is a Pentax 6x7 Lens Guide. You'll note the comment that the optics are unchanged.

I have the earlier 45mm model too. I'm satisfied with it. But unless the extreme wide angle is called for, it takes a back seat to my SMC 67 generation 55mm. YMMV.

I have the later version and for extreme wide angles, it's one of my favorite lenses. Just got the 55mm a few months ago and haven't really had a chance to use it much yet.

Here's a shot with the 45mm lens.

Hi Bob.....I use the Epson V750 Pro with Silverfast AI v6. The V700 with Vuescan would work equally well. Before I got the V750 I used an Epson 2450 for many years and those scans were very good too.

I think it's hard to do wrong when you're working with that big, beautiful 6x7 negative! :-)

Even so, someday I'd love to see what a Hasselblad Flextight or a high end drum scanner could do with my P67 negs and transparencies.

Well, I 've made the assumption that the old version and new version are optically the same, although I've never seen the cross section of the old version. I have the new version cross section and it would be interesting to see the old cross section in the old owner's manual of the 45. Anyone have the cross section of the old 45?
