I received my 645N today (in addition to the 645). While I can see why people feel it is a huge improvement over the 645 original (apart from the finishing, which feels more solid on the original), my 645N was used - and a bit more used than I expected.
The matte focusing screen has vertical marks on the left and right side, as a damp mirror on which someone drew lines with two fingers on each side, left and right. It doesn't show all of the time, but I do find it distracting.
I do not know what it is - whether it is damage to a layer, or something that could be cleaned off the screen. Are there any repair centres in the UK (preferably near London) which anyone can recommend to me? Or perhaps even Pentax UK?
I looked into a new screen, and found that there are differences between the 645 and 645N screens - with all offerings I found relating to the original 645. Grrr. How often do 645N screens pop up, and are they similar to 645NII ones?
Otherwise, very satisfied, shot a first roll today to check the camera & lens (120/4 macro) and hope to receive results within a week.
PS
The 645N manual speaks of a "sprit screen" option. A nice example of hypercorrection.
