Pentax 645 long exposures?

Hello,
I have recently borrowed a pentax 645 from a friend to experiment with. I have shot a few rolls experimenting with different films.

I am very interested in long exposures and time lapses (currently playing with homemade pinholes).

Are long exposures possible with the pentax 645? I'm thinking 5mins and above.

I apologise for any ignorance, i have not had much experience in medium format.

Are there shutter release cables that work with this camera?

Tegan

645 can do long exposures as long as batteries can take it. As I remember the first 645 was the best for it, due to little energy consumption. I read somewhere that 645n can do 8h exposures on fresh set of batteries, and the old 645 could do it a lot longer. For old 645 is the 'Pentax cable switch A'. I think you find it on ebay

No problem! Make sure you bring a very sturdy tripod. The 645 is heavy.

Good luck!
