Can I use my DA lenses with a Pentax film SLR?
Posted By: Ole, 09-07-2006, 09:19 PM

Yes and no.
Yes: The lenses can be used in Tv and P mode on cameras with these modes (e.g. ZX-5N). The lenses can be used in all available exposure modes on cameras which do not require the lens to have an aperture ring (such as the *ist).
No: The lens does not cover the full 24 x 36 frame. Only approximately 24 x 24 mm will be exposed correctly. Some sources say that the DA 16-45 mm will cover all of the 24 x 36 mm frame from the 24 mm zoom setting up to 45mm.

The Pentax DA*16-50/2,8 does work on film SLRs, provided the body does not require an aperture ring.
However, there is a fair amount of vignetting on all focal lengths.

what means "a body that does not require an aperture ring" ???

I wanted to find an old film body, for some astrophotography purpose particularly. I was looking on the old and full manual body actually.
What does the body needs to be able to support my lenses (DA 21mm and 40mm limited, DAL 55-300mm, sigma 10-20mm).

The Pentax LX looked good to me but I dont know enough all the pentax film bodies range (a pentax-equivalent of the Olympus OM1 will be great).

thanks

An old and full manual body with K-mount that I know of is the Vivitar 3000N, a fully mechanical film SLR actually.
