The Best Beginner Book - Understanding Exposure

Hey fellow photographers. I just read this book "Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera " by Bryan Peterson.

And boy was it great! It totally taught me how to understand when to use which shutter speed and aperture. Now it all makes sense! No more guessing.

Plus it only took me a few hours read.

For only $15 you can't go wrong. Its the best investment you can make.

Check it out on Amazon.com clicking the picture below to grab it.

The book I am reading now is called
"The Photographer's Eye: Composition and Design for Better Digital Photos"
and I'll let you know what I think of that book in a few days. Its a harder read and more nitty gritty.

He also has one titled (I think) "Understanding Speed". I have both, and have read both twice.

hasn't it taken all the guesswork out of photography for you?? I was amazed when I learned the principles within.

Just knowing when to use the "Who Cares" f/8 f/11 stops was worth the price of the book for me!

Its "Understanding Shutter Speed", and yes, it is great. I've been into photography seriously, since 1967, when I got my Pentax Spotmatic, so I thought I had a pretty good grasp of the subject. Even after all this time, I learned a few things from both "Understanding Exposure" and "Understanding Shutter Speed".

Peterson also has another good book called "Learning to See Creatively". This is a subject that is difficult to teach, but he has some good techniques for bringing out whatever creative talent you may possess.

Thanks for the link!

I loved

.

I don't endorse his views about f/22 not hurting sharpness (it provably does) but these shots were great.

"Digital Exposure Handbook" by Ross Hoddinott. This is my favorite field book on exposure. Clearly written from layman to technical. Small, carry-about size.
