Ordering Pentax K-X Today

DA-L 55-300mm = 11.15 cm = 4.38976378 inches

i recently bought this kit based on overall positive feedback of this lens over the 50-200mm. a few weeks ago the 55-300mm kit sold for $680 on amazon. it's a little higher now. the Pentax DSLR gadget bag will hold the 55-300mm lens and K-x body with 18-55mm lens attached nicely.

I didn't read the whole thing, but from what I gathered it seems the rules vary from team to team, and that also a lot of people do show up at games with 300mm lenses....

Be careful in assuming anything about lens measurements - you don't know how the folks at the stadium will measure. For all we know, it might be from the *back of the camera* to the front of the lens. Or if they measure the lens alone, they might include the mount whereas the published specs don't. Or they might measure the lens fully extended (maximum zoom, minimum focus distance).
