iso 50 on k-x

When I bought my k-x I saw ISO 50 being available. A few test shots I made revealed a wonderful dyn range and silky-smooth shadows. Now, a few weeks later, cant figure out what happened with my ISO 50! I know, sounds silly, probably some menu setting, but would really appreciate a hint on how to enable the ISO 50 back.

There's no 50 on the Kx. 100 is the lowest.

There definitely was ISO 50, I used for weeks before somehow 'loosing it'. Maybe its lens, maybe its menu settings or combination thereof, but ISO 50 was there :-)

Lenses have nothing to do with ISO. If your camera did ISO 50 then you have a very special machine. The manual specs the Kx at 200-6400 and I guess Expanded will get you 100-12800.

Show us a photo, with the exif in tact, taken at ISO 50. That may actually convince me to try the Kx.

I'm pretty sure Ira is correct. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, 200 is actually the considered the "base" ISO on the Kx, although you can extend this down to 100 if you like. I also recall reading that the true base ISO of the Kx sensor is closer to 125, for what it's worth.

Regardless, as far as I know, there is no way to set the Kx to an ISO setting of 50.

I wish there was an ISO 50

Perhaps you're thinking of some P&S you used?

If you took hundreds of shots at that ISO, then try looking at the EXIF info. I believe you'll find you were mistaken about either the ISO level you were using or the camera you were using. No Pentax DSLR has an ISO 50 - and I don't know of any APS-C camera from any other manufacturer that does, either. It would be counterproductive to have ISO 50, because the lower the base ISO of the camera, the worse it will likely perform at higher ISO.

Sorry guys. In all likelyhood either I am going to get a heart attack or pull whatever is left of my hair. I absolutely vividly recall seing ISO 50 one day and going ... wow, did not see this before, what's this curiosity for? I tried taking a picture of a sun with my 300 mm at 1/6000 at iso 50 hoping to see sun spots (yes, I am a newbie). It was washed out so I erased the shots. I do not recall any other 100% shot I took at iso 50 ... and yes, you are right, at this point anything I say is a crazy man's talk unless I find a an iso 50 sample ...
I'll loose my sleep now. If I re-discover it, I'll make sure I have proof and let you know :-)

even at ISO 50, the Canon 5DMarkII doesnt do well, check Dxomark for test info, K-x has 100-12800, with 3rd steps, usable at 6400 2.8 and steady hand in my experience.
Happy Shooting,

Download Photome and upload on of your first pictures. That will undoubtedly tell you what ISO you were shooting at.

Pull your hair--we don't want you to have a heat attack.

The lowest ISO on the Kx is 100, with Expanded Sensitivity enabled.

I shoot 90% of my stuff at 100 (simulated as it may be), and if there was 50, I would be on it like white on rice.

We're telling you:

Don't lose any sleep over it. The Kx can't do 50.

Maybe you saw 60 for the shutter speed and you're confusing that with the other..

Maybe you saw ISO 500 and didn't notice the last zero.
