Video mode

Hello,

i am going for holidays, and might be taking some videos, either in bright sunshine, or in forests or at night etc...

I have understood that i would need to be doing focus while shooting, however for the other settings, what should i be doing?
Should i be pressing something before i start recording? Or the camera always automatically choses settings?

Thanks

You can choose the aperture before recording, but that's about it, I believe.

ok thanks..

So i guess from the replies, there isnt much to do on the video mode? Just press the AF button and it would do the work?

That's right. In general, you pick the aperture, set the dial to video mode and hit the button. You do have to manually focus/zoom. The camera will control the iso to keep the exposure right. If you are in too dark a place, it may get a little noisy.

So the camera would change the exposure according to light?

I thought that the exposure could just be selected before you start recording and that the camera wouldn't change it...

No, the camera tries to maintain the same exposure, but if light changes while your shooting, it will increase or decrease iso to maintain the same exposure. It doesn't change aperture while you are shooting.

Is there any way to control video "shutter speed" on it? Simply choose the lowest aperture?

I'm talking about a K-x though, I see no mention of it.
