My first "new" lens

One of my new lenses got here today, looks almost new. Its a P/K mount Vivitar 135mm F2.8 CF.

I just had one question about this little "shield" on the back the of the lens marked in the 3rd picture. It looks shorter length wise and slightly taller than the one on my kit lenses, just wanted to know if thats ok or something I need to worry about?

Wow it looks new indeed! And I wouldn't worry about that shield it's just slightly taller but short length-wise. Some old Vivitar lenses have longer (but same height) shield and part of the shield (far side of the aperture / diaphragm actuator it's supposed to protect) touches the box shape inside camera mount preventing the lens to be mounted properly.
