Regarding Porst 135mm f2.8 PK Manual Lens

Hello,

I searched over internet about this but I did not find anything useful. I already own Pentax M 135mm f3.5. One vendor is offering this lens for 35EUR used and in good condition. The price point is a bit attractive and I wanted to consider this.

Can you guys please give some information on this lens? Any photos??

Thanks

Porst was a German distributor and retailer of many brands of cameras/lenses. It also rebadged many cameras/lenses made by various manufacturers. I had a few Porst lenses, some of them made by Cosina, some by Chinon. None of them was spectacular (that's why I don't keep any).

IMHO, a Porst 135mm F/2.8 is nothing to write home about. Since you already have a Pentax M 135mm, I'd recommend to pass the Porst.

I have an M42 Porst 135/2.8; the objective is unfortunately fogged, so I can't comment on its quality. It is fun to use for soft, misty, glowing shots. I also have an M42 Porst Color Reflex 55/2.8 which is no better nor worse than other cheap Fifty's.

From what I have read, Porst lenses are excellent for certain types of experiments. For instance, if you wish to see how much damage a lens can take before image quality suffers, hit the Porst glass with a hammer. And again, and again, and again...

Hallo, really, there are some old PORST lenses without high value and without achromatic elements , undoubtably! (same lenses of REVUE)

*** BUT ***

I've got 3 lenses of PORST of higher quality and WITH ONE ACHROMATIC ELEMENT - in order to improve sharpness at the edges and to eleminate CA's:

PORST TELE 2.8/135 with cheap plastic housing, but 5/4 elements (some flare wide open, but from f 5.6 up to f 11 very sharp and nice bokeh) - prduced by ENNA, Munic or ISCO Göttingen.

PORST AUTO N 2.8/135 with metal housing and 5/4 elements (very rare and expensive) , too !!! - not the frequent auto D with 4/4 elements, which is worse. (similar to ZEISS Sonnar quality)

and PORST 1.8/50 with 6/5 elements (very similar to Pentax 1.8/50).

All these 3 lenses are made of high quality glass, the auto N for macro shootings with extension tubes and the 1.8/50 for use with 2 x macro converter = excellent results with all 3 lenses stopped down to f 5.6-11 !!!
