Studio lighting suggestions

I am interested in purchasing some in-home studio lighting to take portraits of my family & friends.

I don't want to break the bank to do this, but would like to get the lights, stands, backdrops etc that I need.

I found a package deal that has all of this for $149.99

Does anyone know if this seems to be too good of a deal to be true, or is it just really cheap material etc.?

My own opinion, they are crap.
Spend a little more and get something that used flash tubes rather than compact florescent lamps.

Do flash tubes go based off of the camera flash, or would I need to buy something else? My only flash right now is the in camera flash on my K-7.
