get a tamron or a sigma 18-200mm it covers a lot of range which is great for travelling
I use one on mine and its the best bang for the buck lens that I have so far
heck I use it all the time
How does that compare with the 18-250mm?

According to virtually every review, the various 18-200's aren't as good as the various 18-250's. But they are cheaper.

Well with that said Ill just stick with my kits lens and see what i think. I have read people say the pentax kit lens is one of the best ones available -- even so it seems like the first thing everyone does is ditch and get something else.
I've had both the AL and AL II versions, and then later I acquired a Sigma 17-70 about a year ago . I tell you this, lately I found myself been using the "kit lens" 18-55 AL II more than with the Sigma. It's never been a though of ditching any of the kit lenses crossed my mind, and I also am going to order a WR version tonight.

Ahh, I see someone likes the kit lens.

I still find fun, use and interest in my various "kit" lenses as well. Kit lens may be a sort of cost savings for the manufacturer in order to sell more bodies but I find use to capture images using the kit M 50, FA 28-90 and DA 18-55 though I admit, were it not for it's size, my DA 50-200 would now be of little use.
I think for the first year I had my K10, most of my images were with a kit lens of one system or another.

Yes, taking a quick look, I noticed that. Is the image quality significantly inferior? I got the idea of the 18-250mm a few days ago, based on some testimony concerning how incredibly versatile they are. I'm aware that the lens (Tamron, and it's rebadge, the Pentax) has been discontinued and am thinking I should maybe keep my eyes open for an opportunity to snag one. I think there's a Sigma version, and presumably it's not discontinued. Is the quality/pricing of the Sigma on a par with the Tamron?
