ME Viewfinder

I inherited a ME, I understand how to focus with the split viewfinder and the prizims surrounding the center. My question is when half of the split center turns dark or black and the other half is clear, what does that mean? Is it still out of focus? Thanks.

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

This happens with these type viewfinders when the aperture is roughly f5.6 or more, this is not a fault, this is how they are. The effect can be sometimes lessened by moving your eye up and down in the viewfinder.

It in no way effects your focus, just your ability to tell if you are in focus.
