Forced flash

Is there a quick (I'm still reading up on things) that I can do to make my flash fire when flash is not needed? Force it somehow.

I think on my K7 & *istD, as long as the flash is up, it will fire, mind you I'm shooting with manual Takumar lenses, so not sure if that would make a difference with Auto lenses.

K10D (and also K20D I think), K-7, when the built-in flash is up, it will fire if shutter speed is equal to or lower than 1/180 sec.

I don't know about other bodies.

It will also fire as long as the flash is up and on manual flash discharge on a Kx. The camera will not let you go faster than 1/180 when the flash is up.

Do you think this applies to mounted flashes also?

Yes, with one exception: if the external flash supports high-speed sync (e.g. Pentax AF540FGZ), you can set the flash to fire even with shutter speed higher than 1/180 sec.
