Pentax SMC DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 Ed

I have the Tamron 70-300mm LD DI and was thinking of getting the subject lens but was wondering if there would be that much of a difference in results. Any thoughts?

Just do a search here. There are only about 300 threads about the subject.

Also, please note that there is a separate section of the forum for lenses and camera bodies. This section is for camera bodies.

Correct on both counts. There is a lens forum for discussions like this, but also, this particular discussion has taken place at least 100 times already. So I'm moving this to the beginner's forum, as that's where it seems most appropriate to me.

I'll save you and other people the time of searching for and reading all the threads that have essentially the same conclusion....

"Yes".

Thanks, SpecialK. I'm just going to assume an E-rated used lens from Adorama is a good deal and order it now.

Got the lens the other day and tried it today. Just by looking at the results I can see a stark improvement over the Tamron, especially at the high-end of the zoom range. Will have to do some side-by-side test shots at various settings in the near future.
