Techno Talk Abbreviations...

Just woundering if there is a thread that compiles the techno jargon that most members use in abreviated form

For example LBA = Lens Buying Addiction, PP = Post Processing...

There are alot of references like this through out the threads tat I read but not too sure what the abreviations stand for.

Thanks
MC

All common acronyms are automatically expanded and highlighted here in the forum. Simply hover over the abbreviation and you'll see what it stands for!

Example: SMC LBA AFAIK

IIRC the MF Hassy's cost OMFG more than I make in a year so I'll ROFLMAO when I see EB listings starting at 99 cents, w/ or w/o AFL's or MFL's. But when I see a100mm MFL for MF cams I have to calc the AOV and DOF based on a reverse CF. Life would be easier with a FF from CNS, eh?

[/test]

Results: Doesn't know Manual Focus from Medium Format; doesn't know Full Frame, Auto Focus Lenses, Manual Focus Lenses, eBay, Angle of View, Crop Factor, or Canon-Nikon-Sony. Ah well...

Incongruities / irregularities:

FF: Full-frame (unless you're in cine, in which case it's double-frame)
HF: Half-frame (unless you're in cine, in which case it's single-frame)
PP: Post-processing, or pre-production, or pentaprism, or...?
MF: Medium format, or manual focus, or an insult

Please add to this list.

I'm using the latest edition of firefox with Win7 and can't see it either-but it's no big deal. I know you have had a lot to deal with in the last several hours. Get some rest.

What does the IF mean on some of the pentax lens names (all DA* except for 55, DA 10-17, DA 12-24, DA 17-70)?

The secret is revealed in your lens manual. What, your lens didn't include a manual? Here are the decodings:

AL: aspheric lens
ED: lens made with extra-low dispersion glass (achromatic lens)
IF: inner focus-type lens
J: junk
SDM: lens with a supersonic motor
