M 100 f/4 "Dental" Macro

You fail to mention the SMC-M 100 mmF4 macro lens.

Although it is manual focus, (but with macto who cares, you focus on what you want anyway) it works very well.

The lens has the ability to extend the elements 50 mm(1/2 life size) without extension tubes, and at 100 mm gives you a little better working distance with the subject.

I actually couple mine to the 1.7x AF TC and get combination of autofocus plus effective focal length of 170 mm.
I just posted this shot taken with the SMC-P M 100mm f/4 "dental" macro in the M Club thread.

Another resource for info on some of these parts is found here:

You might want to fix this link. I got an Error 404 - Not Found when I clicked on it.

Magnification

According to the April 2007 Pentax accessories brochure I have to hand, the following magnifications can be had using the FA 50mm f1.4:

With Helicoid extension ring, from 0.51x through to 1.04x (lens mounted normal way round), and from 1.16x to 1.54x with lens mounted in reverse using adaptor.

With regular rings (#1=9.5mm, #2=19mm, #3=28.5mm) and FA 50mm f1.4 mounted normal way:

#1 - 0.33x
#2 - 0.52x
#3 or #1+#2 - 0.7x
#1 + #3 - 0.88x
#2 + #3 - 1.06x

With rings + reverse adaptor:

#1 + #2 - 1.19x
#1 + #3 - 1.38x
#2 + #3 - 1.56x
#1 + #2 + #3 - 1.74x

It doesn't give any closest focusing distances, is it safe to assume that pretty much all of these require the lens to be nearly touching the subject? Also, does anyone know of a similar chart/data for other lenses?
