Optio P80 Not 12 meg

I just purchased an Optio P80 and have it set to 12MH. It says that it's a 12.1 Mega Pixel camera but the pictures I get are around 4meg. What gives?

If you are looking at JPEG sizes remember they can be highly compressed and will never equal the sensor size of the camera.
