Pentax *ist ds firmware

Hello, so I updated the firmware on my *ist Ds to the latest which I think is ver 2.02 so I could use a bigger Memory card.
I 've had a look around and couldn't find any information on what limits it has or what other features the updated firmware had.

Is there a list somewhere that explains what has changed and what the memory card limit is, I don't want buy a big memory card only for it to see only half of it. Will it accept one of the SDHC cards ?

Thank you to anyone that can point me in the right direction.

Take care.

I use a 2 GB card with no problems. I've never tried anything higher, as the 2 GB card holds 184 Raw images.

Yes, thats what I'm using also, but I'd like to go higher, 4 or may be even 8Gb, but before I buy I'd really like to know if it can use it.

Why do I want so much space, why not, I don't want to run out of memory if I stumble onto something news worthy, I've had one of my photos on TV for 1/2 a second a few years ago, I'd like to try for a whole second this time around.
I just want to maximise what I have to the BEST I can.

The final DS firmware adds SDHC support (I've used 4GB and 8GB cards with no issue) and other features that were added in the DS2 like AF-C selectable in all modes.

I only used 8GB with my Ds but Toshiba C4 32GB SDHC with the K-m w/o problem. I don't see why the Ds would have any issue since it supports SDHC. Mind you that card quality varies a lot so if you fish cheap, beware of the risk.

Yes I only plan to use a brand name, San Disk seems to be popular so I'll get that in may be 8Gb. how many pictures will a *ist Ds hold using a 8Gb ? yeah I know I could work it out but what my maths say's and what the camera say's I'm sure the two will be different.
A heads up would help me know if I want even bigger than 8 Gb.

Around 2700 highest quality/resolution JPEG's or about 700 raw PEF's.

Thank you everyone for all your help.

8Gb seems to be a very good size, 700+ Raw sounds like a full battery worth.

thank you.
It's much appreciated.
