Firmware upgrade for Metz 48 flash

How important is the firmware download for my new Metz 48 AF1. It is brand new so I don't know if there is a download available as yet. Just curious

The latest version is 1.1

mecablitz 48 AF-1 digital: Metz

I upgraded my Metz 58 but I don't think that upgrading is important for the 48. The release notes mentions just minor changes.

Hmm what kind of mini-USB cord should I use for the Metz? It turns off or something when I attempt to connect it to the PC. Could the problem be the cord (which I think unlikely, since I can use other devices with it except the Metz) or something I don't know about the Metz?
