Green button

Hello,

i use a lot M mode, however in order to take some fast photos i some times press the Green button in order to get auto settings...

The thing i dont understand, is how the camera selects the automatic settings?
It changes both shutter and exposure? One of them?

I shot so many photos with Green button and i still dont know 100% how it derives the settings. It just selects the settings as if it was on AUTO MODE?

Thanks

AFAIK on most Pentax DSLR you can choose if the camera should control both or only aperture or shutter speed when you press green button i manual mode (by default it changes both).
If camera change both it set the same exposure as it would in P-mode.
I usually have my cameras set so I select aperture and the camera set shutter speed.

Edit: There is also a "sticky" thread about this.

It will change both but will bias to what you have set in the program line. For example if the program line is set to MTF and you have a lens that gives the info to the camera it will try to set the lens aperture to what give the best MTF.

That's how I shoot, but with old manual lenses where the Green button is the only way.

But if you're using a modern auto lens though, what's the point of the Green button? Just shoot in Av and it does the same thing.
