K7 dead pixels

I have read a couple of threads but wanted to put this on the beginners forum.

I have had my K7 for a couple of months, and I have noticed from time to time some pixels which are presumably dead. They show up red or blue or white. This only seems to happen on long exposures. Tonight I decided to check them out, so I took some shots with the lens cap on. A 30 second exposure showed over 50 dead 'uns. At 1/125 these weren't visible. I did a pixel remap, and on a 30sec exposure they are gone. Which is reassuring, but should an almost brand new camera have so many dead pixels? And what has happened to them? Where'd they go after the pixel remapping?

Those are hot pixels and not dead pixels. Quite normal for long exposures.

50 dead or hot pixels in a 14 million pixel sensor is pretty good. Just run your pixel mapping from time to time and don't worry about it.

They are still there, they are just averaged out with surrounding pixels.
