a dumb question about lenses

Hi all, I have a dumb question about lenses. What do the different initials in front of the style of lens mean. For example, "DA," "FA," type lenses etc. Do these have meaning, and if so, where can I find a resource that describes them all. Or, are they simply model styles, with "Pentax DA lens" being like "Ford Mustang" type of car? Thanks in advance for your help.

See here: Pentax K-Mount Lenses Explained: The differences between various Pentax lens series

Each series has different functionality. DA/DA L lenses are digital-only, all others are full-frame. F, FA, DFA, FA J, DA L, and DA lenses are autofocus, all others are manual focus. Those and A lenses have auto aperture, all others have manual aperture. Further details can be found in the article above!
