Rear screen won't turn off?

I stayed up too late last night looking at the manual and the internet to answer this question, and I can't find the answer, so I'm just gonna ask.

The K-7 should turn off the rear screen after a few seconds of inactivity, right? I think it did when I got it, but it doesn't now. If I view an image, then forget to press the shutter button, to turn it off, the pic stays on indefinitely. Or until, I presume, auto shut down. I've bee screwing around a lot with the settings, and I updated the firmware yesterday, so I'm not sure what I've done.

I don't think you've Done anything. I usually tap the shutter button to return to shoot mode (and use the INFO button to turn off the screen) so I don't know how long a photo recalled using the playback, will stay up. I know with Review (right after the shot) it only stays for a few seconds but even that seems to vary.

Funny the screen being on never bothered me before but with the K7, I hate having the rear screen on while trying to peer through the viewfinder. Perhaps it's the bigger size of the screen...

Huh, maybe I'm wrong that it was turning off by itself before. I just did a reset to default and the image still stays on. Seems like there should be a setting to address that, but I guess not. I have figured out the other "problems" with the display, though. On the 3rd page of the record menu there are check boxes for Status Screen and Image Preview. I turned off the Status Screen because it's annoying, and I've customized the Image Preview to have my histo and blinkies, and stay on for 5 seconds, for a quickie assessment. That way I don't have the blinkies distracting me when I am zooming into an image to check sharpness, etc.
