Date & Time Issue

My time is set to 24hr mode. And when I imported my pics they show ie: 8:30 am, when they were taken at 8:30 pm.

If I change to 12hr mode, it only show the AM setting. This is probably silly, but can anyone explain this to me?

What do you mean "imported". What software are you using to view the exif?

Either your camera or your computer is 12 hours off. Or your Aperture doesn't understand a 24 hour clock. What does the camera say when you review a photo? Is it correct?

date and time is a display function only, it is stored in an absolute value in the image.

What can happen with "import" functions is that the software might just put a new date and time on the file, representing when it was imported.

That is still not an issue, because the date taken info is stored in the exif data but it does confuse things when looking for a file with explorer. This also happens when using a cable to download, which is why I always take the card out of the camera and use a card reader.

Just add 12 hours to whatever time it's set to right now.

Thanks everyone. I haven't figured it out yet, but I have confirmed that the time showing in Aperture, is the same time shown in my camera, it's just that all pics show AM when it should be PM. It's like there's no option in the camera to change the time to PM. When you set the time, the only option is am.

If I remember correctly, if you are setting the time to a PM time, you have to set the time using the 24 hour format - ie: 6 PM would be 18:00. Then, when you select the 12 hour display format the time is correct. Hope that makes sense.

I agree this is probably the problem. Not understanding that 8:30 pm is 2030, which the camera should display in 24hr format.
