If you're a casual shooter I'd save the money and go with the K-x. You're not likely to need a lot of the features in the K-r anyway so why buy more camera than you need? That being said, the K-r also has a lot to recommend it and if you do need a bit more range you might want to go there. Best thing you can do before you even go there is READ THE MANUAL. They're available online at Pentax free in pdf format. Do yourself a huge favor, go and get them, sit down and read them before you even choose. That way you'll know each of them well enough to make an informed choice and you won't just be listening to your wallet when it comes to make it.
