I have had a k-x for a few months now and I am quite happy with it and with the quality of pictures I have shot. I am a beginner and this is my first DSLR. One problem I have noticed is that in the viewfinder, the text at the bottom (ISO, Aperture settings etc) looks blurred to me, though the subject that I am trying to focus on looks crystal clear.

I don't wear glasses or contacts, but did have to adjust the diopter settings a bit to make the viewfinder image clear. However, further adjustment with the diopter control hasn't helped with the text/info at the bottom.

Does this sound like a camera problem or is it time to get my eyes checked?

The K-x doesn't offer the greatest viewfinder experience.

Plus, using the diopter correction--like I do to its max--corrects for your distance vision, but it negatively affects your close-up vision, which includes those numbers and letters you're complaining about.

Totally normal.

It's like taking a pair of those cheap reading glasses from WalMart and putting them on to drive your car. It's correcting for your reading vision, but will make you blind as a bat for distance vision.
