Essential lenses (Just starting out purchasing glass)

STOP.

Don't buy lenses because people say "you have to have X". Take some pictures, take some more pictures, then take even more

THEN look at your images, are you always at the wide end of your lens. If so look at a wider lens (8-16mm, 10-24mm, 12-24mm, 15mm etc.).. same for a long lens.

I made the mistake of buying too many lenses at first and trying to cover every length. You don't need to.

Relax, you will end up buying more lenses then you ever thought possible.

You really have to experiment to find what you like. Lens prices do hold up fairly well, and they are easy to sell (if in good condition), so you should count on only losing a percentage of the price of a lens if you change your mind.
