K2000

I have a K2000 that i recently started having problems with. I notice that even when i plave a brand new set of Energizer AA batteries in the camera will either not turn on or the screen will say "battery depleted". This has been really annoying and has cost me a few good shots at family events. Can this be fixed?

Do you mean lithium AAs? If so and they're fresh, then batteries are unlikely to be the problem. Actually even alkaline AAs should power the camera up when they're fresh.

If all the batteries are from the same batch, you might try some batteries from another batch or manufacturer.

You might also make sure the contacts are clean.

I have no idea why but have you chosen the correct battery type in the menu?

Thanks for your reply. Do you think there is a big differance between lithium and Alkaline. Is there a way to properly clean the contacts?

I had the same exact problem...posted on the forum before, but no one could really answer. I had purchased a bunch of rechargeable Duracell NiMHs and intended to use them, but the k2000 wouldn't work with them. I got the same message you got.

I ended up sending it in to Pentax for warranty service, but the same issue still happened.

So I ended up purchasing those Eneloops and have been happy since. I would recommend going with the Eneloops and saving yourself the hassle of trying to make other batteries work.

Choose Lithium in the menu and see if it helps. Contacts can be cleaned by isopropyl alcohol.
