My solution is to take a shot at +1.3 and check the histogram on the back of the camera, then alter the compenstation as required. However, I avoid overexposure like the plague as there is no rescuing overexposed images, but ones that are a bit under are easily sorted out give that 1) I take RAW, 2) I have Photoshop and 3) I only process the best images.
