Which new K-series equivalent to K200D

Hi,

K200D has been discontinued. Which later version of Pentax would be equivalent to this line?

Thanks,
NguyenP

None. The K-r comes closest to it, but doesn't have weather sealing and top lcd screen. The K-5 belongs in a superior league.

as new models both the kx and kr are the replacements (and big performance jumps as well)
the k7 (some still out there, and some very good value used ones) will give better viewfinder and build than the others, not as good high iso or focus as the kr, but better than your 200, and (essentially 90% of the k5 performance at a much lower price)

Oh, yes, in terms of performance (image and AF), all of the new cameras (K-x, K-r, and K-5) are better than K200d. Arguably, K200d betters them at ISO 100 (probably except K-5).

There really isnt' one, which is why I'm still using my K200D.

I'll get a K-5 eventually, but what I really want is a weather sealed K-r with a top LCD. The K200D has a unique, somewhat odd feature set that hasn't been duplicated.

Actually if you can afford it, K-5 is not much heavier and about the same size. You should still be able to get K-7 at price not too far from the K200D introductory price.

It was a model somewhere in the middle of the line. Most of the time Pentax has had just two models with nothing in the middle. The DS was kind of in the middle too, but a different feature mix than the K200D.

I like the K-7 idea. It's not officially a middle-of-the-line model, but it ends up in a similar place to the K200D. It's even not so great at high ISO.
