Small bag for k-x w/55-300mm attached

I just bought the k-x with 18-55 and 55-300 kit lenses. This is my first DSLR camera. I am looking for a small bag to hold the k-x with the 55-300 kit lens attached plus room for the other lens, caps and some batteries. I like the convenience of a sling bag that allows me to quickly take the camera out on the go.

Will the Lowepro SlingShot 102 AW fit the k-x with the 55-300 lens attached? Looks like it may not be wide enough.

Or, how about the Tamrac 5766 Velocity 6x?

Any other recommendations for a small, inexpensive bag that would fit my needs?

I don't know about the Lowepro but the K-x w/ 55-300 fits just fine in the Pentax Sling Bag.

I have the LowePro Slingshot 202 AW. I can fit my Kx, DA 55-300 , 50 prime, kit lens and a DA* 55-135. Its tight, but they all fit. I can also fit the camera in with any of the lens' attached.

I really like the bag.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I see some feedback on the Pentax bag that the opening might be small. Not sure if that will bother me.

As for the LowePro 202AW, it looks to be wider than the 102AW. So if your K-x with attached 55-300 kit lens fits just right in the 202, it might not fit in the 102.

I also saw this Case Logic SLRC-205 sling bag. I wonder if it's any good?

In my experience the only way to decide is to take all of your crap to a real, actual store, and see what fits. And for gods sake, buy from them. don't leave and order online.

A good camera shop will be happy to help you in your quest.

Try to find a Case Logic bag in a Canadian store! The only one I found was a Case Logic SLR Shoulder Bag at Blacks. Vistek and Henry`s do not carry Case Logic camera bags, according to my research.

Actually there is room at the end of the 55-300 lens without the hood on. I think the 102 would work because that lens is not that long.

I do agree with grainbelt that the best idea is to load up one at a store to see if for sure it is what you want. God forbid you would have more than one camera bag, I think you would be the first member of this forum if you did.

I have the K-x w/ the 55-300 and also 2 bags: Lowepro Slingshot 202 AW and Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Sling Bag.
The LowePro can hold a lot, but I wanted something smaller and got the Case Logic.
It can hold the K-x w/ that lens attached in the main pocket. I used it for 2 weeks abroad w/ that lens, a 16-45mm, a 50mm prime, blow rocket, couple of CPL filters, 8 batteries, and some cleaning supplies. Worked great.

Has anybody tried crumpler bags with the kx and the 55-300mm attached? I was thinking about the 4, 5 o 6 million dollar but i don't know which one is better and I don't know any shops in the LA that has them...

I have the Lowepro SlingShot 200AW for my K-x kit. It will accomodate my K-x with the 55-300mm lens mounted, as well as room for the 18-55mm, a 50mm 1.7 prime, an AF280T flash, and one spare space still. The top zipper compartment contains a small pair of glasses, a tabletop tripod, pen, and a remote control; still room to spare. The front compartment has a couple of extra sets of batteries and is just the right size to hold my Operating Manual.

I'm really happy with the bag. It's comfortable to tote and you can swing it around, unzip, and have your camera out, turned on and ready to shoot in a few seconds!

I don't see this particular model on B&H anymore, but I'm sure they'd have an equivalent.

I have the Pentax sling bag and it's fine for a K7 with a 55-300 and an 18-55 plus lots of bits & pieces, but as someone else said, go to the shop and try it out. I brought mine in the shop I tried it in, I found out later that the headline price was quite a bit more than online but when I took P&P into account the difference was very little.

However someone somewhere else said they had one of these bags and it fell apart after a couple of week. That's not been my experience.

I hope this helps a bit:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-camera-field-accessories/37413-pen...ny-images.html

I have had my Pentax Sling Bag for more than a year now (probably longer if I bothered to look) and it is holding up very well. I use it now mostly to carry my K-7 and stuffz. It's zippered opening is about 4 1/2 inches; which is nearly 1/2 inch more narrow than the K-7. So the camera does not go in and out with great convenience. I still like the bag, though. All it's features and size make it really nice for carrying a little more than just the basics.
If you are looking for something less expensive and smaller, you could search places like Amazon for shoulder gadget bags. I had one made by Everyready that would hold a body, lens attached facing up, two other lenses and a battery, extra memory.

I have the Vanguard Upriser 34 and love it. Very solid bag and the sling strap is wide and confortable - it has a second waist attachment buckle to prevent the bag from swaying when hiking. In expanded mode, it can carry a very long lens (8") in the vertical position. No other bag I tried could do this.

I finally got the velocity 7. I can carry the kx with the 55-300mm lens attached and I also have space for my sx10 and the 18-55 lens plus 2 small tripods 4 sets of batteries and memory cards...the good thing is that if I get new lenses I can leave the sx10 at home
