It not the photographer but the camera :)

I especially like the third video although a little profane.

Panasonic is right in their promotion of point and shoots. My website promotes canoe trips. 90% of the pictures are taken with the Optio W80. Pentax could make the same commercial using the Panasonic camera near a waterfall. The Optio W guy, K20D WR guy would get the shot. The only one I really watched at all was the second one (can you tell). ON the other hand, the commercial itself is an outright fabrication.. I haven't seen one moose or raptor picture taken on a point and shoot that was worth printing. You have to laugh at all those people lined up in the park, taking pictures with their point and shoots, of what is going to be a tiny little dot of a moose in the corner of their frame.

Thx for sharing.

Just like a million monkeys banging away on keyboards will eventually produce Shakespeare, so too will a million tourists snapping away with their point-and-shoots eventually produce Cartier-Bresson, Adams, etc...

That's what makes it challenging

There is no answer to this question. It's the photgrapher....it's the gear...it's the situation. Take any two of those three variables and you can invent a scenario where the remaining variable is the determining factor.

Modern digicams, even the cheapest old point-and-shoots, are amazing devices with greater capabilities than the vast majority of users will ever master. But it good marketing strategy to advertise capabilities that will never be achieved by someone without such mastery? As Dirty Harry said, ya gotta know your limitations.
