How do I activate Live View on a K20D?

Hi,

I just borrowed a K20D and I don't have a manual. How is Live View activated? I can't find it....

Thanks,

Its the spring loaded tab wrapped around the shutter button but it must be set up in the menu to engage LV. Suggest you download the manual from pentaximaging.com to understand the options you have to set up that button.

I think you're going to be pretty disappointed in it's use (LV on the K20d) but note that the power switch slide can also be set to activate Digital Preview or My personal favorite, Optical Preview. Optical preview, in M mode, Stops the lens down so you can get a better idea of what your photo will look like in terms of DOF.

Yea I used to like using that function on my old Nikon F2 film body, too. Only problem is that sometimes the view is quite dark!

Ismael, in the menu, go to Custom Setting, number 30, "Preview Method". Then you can choose Live View, Optical (which shows the DOF like Jeff said), or Digital Preview.

Just tried it out of curiosity. I don't see myself using it very often.

Thanks,

I use the optical in M mode with M type lenses. On the K7/K5 (don't have an M on the K20 to verify it), it activates the meter so one can dial the shutter speed, iso, and aperture while watching the affect it has on the meter. I prefer this method to using the green button. It also sometimes helps to nail the focus when using manual focus lenses. On my Olympus OM cameras, it's a button on the side of the lens that does it.

(not trying to talk anyone into anything, just discussing)..
