Can anyone help me calibrate my new MacBook Pro 13" Screen?

I have never done this before, I am no computer expert either, can anyone explain in simple terms how I can properly calibrate it? Or is there a pre calibrated setup that I can imitate or something?

Unless you invest in a third party calibrator there is only one choice on the Mac, Colorsync.

Open System Preferences, and click the Displays prefPane. Click on the Color tab. You will have a choice of a number of profiles or you can calibrate the monitor using Apple's Display Calibrator Assistant. This will generate a new ICC profile for your monitor.

To truly calibrate you monitor you will need a hardware calibrator like the Spyder2.

Student, I really, honestly do urge you to borrow Amazon.com: Real World Color Management (2nd Edition) (0785342267228): Bruce Fraser, Chris Murphy, Fred Bunting: Books. The color management topic is rather complicated and it is super-easy to make mistakes....

Trust me on that one - you really WANT to read that book

Surely all MBP screens are equal and someone must have created a calibration for download no?

No they are not! It is not economically sensible to produce a cheap screen that is very repeatable from batch to batch (an expensive LCD monitor would cost you more than the MacBook). I will repeat my advice to you - read the book. Really! EDIT: added the "not" for the text to make sense.
