Metz 58Af-2 Powerpack warning?

Hi,

I have just purchased a Metz 58Af-2 for pentax....and so far I have put in three types of battery, err...eneloop, energizer and some unknown brand (pure?)

It will take it, and a couple seconds later will flash the powerpack warning.
The manual says this happens when the powerpack is connected while there is still battery inside, or when there is an unauthorized powerpack connected.

The only problem is, I do not have a powerpack. Any idea? I dont think this is normal behaviour. The batteries work fine in my AF 540.

Cheers

Hi D4rknezz,

I have been using my Metz 58AF2 about 3 months with different cameras & lenses and it performs splendidly (except Sigma 18-250 HSM will not work with PTTL). I think it may the set of batteries you are referring to. However, my 58AF2 is not demanding about battery type at all. Try write to Metz .de in Germany, they are quick & helpful.

Oh, seems I have a similar situation here too.

Wait, so the powerpack warning when no powerpack's attached means the item is DEFECTIVE? Oh my.

It comes up too on my AF-2 and somehow it's only happening when the batteries are either 1: not fully charged, 2: low-capacity 3: coming in from long cold state (either unused or well, a cold environment).

The warning goes away once the batts have warmed up. I also notice that the warning doesn't come up when I use the 3500mAH- Eneloop XX batteries, only flashing when I put in "cold" 1900mAH eneloops
