Help with Ultra Achromatic Takumar 300mm f5.6

Hi All! I was given this Ultra Achromatic Takumar 300mm f5.6 by a friend which needs cleaning and repair. He tried disassembling it himself but gave up mid-way because he can't or don't know how to remove the remaining screws. Now the focus ring just spins without the lens actually focusing. Aperture blades look ok and functioning. The barrel looks very good with little signs of use. How rare is this lens and is it worth to get it repaired? Where in the UK can I send it for such repair? Any suggestion/answer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Those lenses were designed for ultraviolet light. There are several focal lengths, probably all rare, since few people had a use for them. The lens is likely to be similar in build to any Takumar of the same vintage, and not hard for anyone used to working on lenses. You'll just need a patient technician, since they'll have to start with an amateur disassembly. It shouldn't cost an outrageous amount.

I'm not sure how useful the lens is - a DSLR might filter out the wavelengths it was designed for. It may just be a collector's item.

Extremly rare lens, I saw it only two times on ebay in 3 years (I bought the second). Some words on it on my website :
Ultra Achromatic Takumar 300/5.6 - Takumar - The eyes of the Spotmatic
Definitively a collector's item, or you need it for special use in UV/IR field, otherwise there are many faster and cheaper 300mm lenses.
On the construction point, it seems to be built as the other takumar lenses. Any skilled photo repairman should be able to repair it and it will be worth the money
