General questions for knowledge enhancement

Dear all,

I am totally new to this forum stuff as I don't really do it quite often...
but just a quick one...
May I ask if anyone can explain to me in very simple terms what does all the mount actually means? ie. K mount, M mount and Screwmount?
I mean I read it in the forum but I am not really that good in understanding what they actually means.
I hope this don't sound really stupid?

It means what type of physical design in used on the part that attaches to the camera body. Screw-mount lenses (also known as m42) have a big round threaded area that screws into an appropriate adaptor to fit the cut-outs in the body.

You can't explain it much better than Adam has on his Pentax K-Mount Lenses Explained website. Adam also runs the website we are on.
