Pentax S-M-C Takumar 135mm auto/ manual

I just purchased my first Pentax lens for use on my m4/3s camera. it's a Pentax Super Multi Coated Takumar 135 2.5 M42. It has an switch on the base marked auto and I think "man" for manual. The switch as I received the lens is in the auto position. I tried gently to set it to the manual position but it doesn't want to move. I don't have the instructions so I am guessing I don't know what I am doing. Can someone help me with this?

Your lens mount looks nearly identical to this one:

All the way on the left of that photo, partially hidden, is a really small pin. The pin is designed to lock the Auto/Man switch in Auto. (They had a good reason which is not relevant on a DSLR.) Make sure you've got your pins right - not the chrome pin at the top of the photo, not the square lug either. If you hold the pin in with a thumbnail, the switch moves freely. Putting the original or similar cap on the lens also holds the pin in, or (probably) putting the adapter on the lens (I don't know about the m4/3 adapters). Once the switch is in Man, you can leave it there.

I apologize for not showing the tiny pin better in this photo.

Here's a better shot of the pin.

the little pin needs to be pressed in, to get the A/M switch to move,

either screw on the lens cap (rear) or mount it on your camera.

this threw me for a loop too, but the pin is there for a purpose, to leave lens in the correct mode on the Spotmatic F and ES II which allow for full aperture metering. Note the additional aperture coupling lever on the lens (just like the K mounts)

Thank you to everyone for educating this newbie; I figured it was probably operator error.

Thank you all for educating this newbie. I was betting on operator error. I am really impressed with the build quality of this lens.

I know the feeling well. Get the box, take out the old newspaper, tear off the bubble wrap, finally extract the lens, look in one end, look in the other, then ten seconds later, crap, it's broken! Did I do that? Was it like that before? If something like this hasn't happened to you, you haven't bought enough stuff from eBay.
